The Human Resource Association of the National Capital Area (HRA-NCA) is the local DC Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). HRA-NCA is committed to providing all professionals in the field of human resource management a forum for expanding their knowledge and talent. Our organization of HR practitioners, consultants, partners, and educators has served the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area since 1945. We are older than SHRM! We provide opportunities for professional development, scholarship, and expansion of your HR horizons.
HRA-NCA (DC SHRM) provides to the business community the authoritative Compensation, Benefits, Government Contracts and Salary Survey products of the Washington-Baltimore area; scholarships to worthy HR students and practitioners; joint SHRM chapter activities; a comprehensive job bank for HR positions in our area; mentoring opportunities for individuals new to HR, we offer monthly professional development seminars with continuing education credits from the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) for PHR, SPHR and GPHR certifications, free Career Management seminars, and much more! Our member volunteers also participate in a variety of community outreach programs, in addition to serving as resources to one another in fostering the HR profession.
HRA-NCA is an affiliated chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and has been a recipient of SHRM's Gold Award (2010-2011), Superior Merit Awards, and the Pinnacle Award—the highest honor given to various Chapters. HRA-NCA also enjoys Mega-Chapter status with over 700 members and we continue to grow strongly. We are proud of our close association with SHRM, the leading voice of the HR profession.
