Job Description – Director of Human Resources

CARANA is seeking a well-organized, highly motivated Human Resources Director. The selected applicant will report to the Executive Vice President, in the firm’s growing Corporate Services unit. The selected candidate would be responsible for the strategic development of the department, including, but not limited to the below:

  • Provide direction, leadership, and management of the Human Resources department
  • Design and implement an annual HR strategic plan
  • Work with the HR Manager to update internal processes and policies
  • Work on organizational design and development
  • Manage strategic and corporate planning
  • Respond to inquiries from domestic and international employees and consultants
  • Recommend and maintain an organizational structure and staffing levels to accomplish company goals and objectives
  • Recruit for Senior Home Office opportunities
  • Oversee compensation programs to ensure regulatory compliance and competitive salary levels
  • Create employee morale activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required and/or MS in HR or Business Administration
  • At least 10-15 years of direct experience in Human Resources, preferably in a government contracting and/or international environment
  • GPHR, SPHR certification preferred
  • Understanding of International Development
  • Understanding of Government Contracting
  • Fluency in English
  • Proficiency in either Spanish or French
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Additional Required Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of employment law and HR compliance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience drafting SOP’s
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to support and work closely with the Executive Management Committee
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects
  • Have knowledge of multiple benefit plans and procedures
  • Strong organizational skills
  • High level of global cultural and political awareness
  • Excellent computer and presentation skills (MS Office)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Understanding of complex insurance policies (DBA, K&R)
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution
  • Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management
