This is the e-mail newsletter of the Human Resource Association of the National Capital Area (HRA-NCA), a proud affiliated chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). HRA-NCA serves HR professionals throughout the Washington DC metropolitan area with a monthly HR Speaker Series, many other professional development opportunities and the area's best compensation survey. Don't miss the DC SHRM Conference on January 28th!

Thanks to all who participated in last month's survey. Results were overwhelmingly positive about this newsletter's new look. This month's question is about cell phone policies. Though cell phones have been around since the late 1970s, corporations only recently have begun adopting workplace guidelines for cell phone users. A recent SHRM survey found while many companies have written cell phone policies, fewer have policies on camera cell phones - 77 percent of companies surveyed lack a policy on the new technology. What is your company doing?Take the survey today.

·  A Message from Kirsten Howard, HRA-NCA President

Announcing DC's six SHRM CORE Leaders. I am very pleased to announce some fabulous volunteers who have stepped up to serve not only HRA-NCA but SHRM as representatives from the "state" of the District of Columbia (SHRM recognizes DC as a state for purposes of their volunteer structure). I'd like to thank these volunteers for their generous contributions of time and talent.
