Here's what some of our volunteers and members have said about their experiences with HRA-NCA!
*Volunteering with HRA-NCA has provided a venue to give back to the HR Community, with whom I am actively engaged when implementing employee wellness programs on behalf of my employer. It's an honor to bring my business development skills to the chapter so that conferences and chapter meeting prices can be reduced by finding sponsors that also value their relationship with the HR Community here in Washington DC. (Doug Nelson, HRA-NCA VP, PR & Marketing)
*Being a volunteer for HRA-NCA has provided me with the ability to network with a great group of people as well as learn about other business and their success and challenges. (Mary Anne Forrester, HRA-NCA Sponsorship Committee)
*HRA-NCA has been a place where I am among friends. Through this organization, I've learned about the inner workings of a membership organization, been able to affect change, and provide leadership for a group I truly believe in. With the relationships I've formed both as a member and on the Board, I've been able to find a real network of folks like me who are committed to their profession, their careers, and the work that a local organization can provide. I love being able to tell others about the power that our singular "state" chapter has and the exceptional programs that our group of 700 members creates. Whether it's having someone who understands your every day work life and can offer suggestions, an escape from the day to day challenges, or being able to mentor others just starting their career, there is something for everyone. I strongly recommend that you take the opportunity to join the HRA-NCA Board and discover your leadership, involvement, and find the best personal and professional "you" that there is! (Elisa Zlotowitz, HRA-NCA VP, Communications)
*I have been a member of HRA-NCA for a few years, after belonging to another chapter, and I can attest to the fact that membership in this organization has many benefits. The monthly meetings not only provide excellent speakers who discuss timely topics (and provide certification CE credits), but they also provide an opportunity for meeting colleagues and networking. I took advantage of this during 2011 while I was job hunting. The meetings gave me a chance to let others in my field know that I was looking, and to hear about opportunities at their organizations or others they had heard about. This actually led to me getting interviews and an offer. I am now the HR Manager at a great organization with wonderful coworkers, and I look forward to continuing to support HRA-NCA. (Shelley Nixon, PHR, HRA-NCA Member)
